An Evening with SONOR MUSIC EDITIONS

Common Wave Hi-Fi + SONOR MUSIC EDITIONS are Proud to Present -

An Italian Reel-to-Reel Playback Event

Common Wave Hi-Fi and Sonor Music Editions are thrilled to present an evening of Italian music compiled from the historical, SR Records label of Sermi Film publishing! Active from 1967-1974, this is the first time that a compilation of more than 30 tracks has been released onto analog reel to reel tape!

Born in 2013, Sonor Music Editions is the brainchild of owner and founder, Lorenzo Fabrizi and his friend Andrea Galtieri. The label’s name actually derives from the Italian term used to describe Library music; which is what the label initially focused on. The label has grown with releases covering everything from obscure Pop, Jazz, and Cinematic soundtracks to Funk, Easy Listening, and underground Psychedelic Rock.

Sonor Music Editions always digs into the deepest sounds of Italian Library and Soundtrack's golden age; releasing and reissuing some of the most rare and beautiful recordings of the 1970s/80s music scene! In 2016 the label started to invest in the acquisition of original archival music developing its own production library series with a nod to new emerging and talented artists.

A bit about SR records, as explained by Sonor founder Lorenzo Fabrizi: "The name SERMI was born from the union of the founders, Sergio Pagoni and Michelangelo Cunsolo (SER-MI) that partnered at the beginning of 1970s with Bruno Nicolai, Morricone’s music director and owner of Gemelli label. Sergio would later start Cometa together with Ivana Mattei in 1976, while Maestro Bruno Nicolai would later found his Edipan label in 1975. Sermi Records undoubtedly played a key role in the history of Italian Library productions being among the very first labels to invest in the music production for television, then disbanded in 1976 with the split into 3 separate companies, Cometa-Sermi-Gemelli."

An Evening with Rhino Records

Common Wave Hi-Fi and Rhino Records are proud to present an evening exploring the immersive world of Quadraphonic recordings.

Quadraphonic sound or 4.0 surround sound utilizes four audio channels connected to four speakers positioned at the corners of a listening space. The multi-track audio is mixed dimensionally; immersing the listener in an expansive soundscape.

The event will present the playback of four iconic titles that have been unavailable in quad audio for nearly 50 years: Alice Cooper’s Billion Dollar Babies, Black Sabbath’s Paranoid, The J. Geils Band’s Nightmares…and Other Tales from the Vinyl Jungle, and Jefferson Starship’s Red Octopus. These legendary albums have all been digitized from the original analog four-track Quad mixes.

Steve Woolard aka ’The Quadfather', Director of A&R for Rhino Record’s Quad Series will be on-site discussing the releases and recording processes of these historic records.

Please use this link to purchase a ticket - we expect this one-of-a-kind event to hit capacity very quickly.

An Evening with Mr Bongo

We are pleased to welcome Gary Johnson and the Mr Bongo team on Thursday, April 27th for a not-to-be-missed night of incredible Brazilian gems.

Mr Bongo started life in 1989 as a small record shop underneath Daddy Kool’s Reggae Store on Berwick Street in London, UK. They were the first shop to sell vinyl releases from independent hip hop labels such as Def Jam, Rawkus, Nervous and Big Beat outside of the USA. In addition, they also became an established bearer for hard-to-find, classic Latin music, particularly Brazilian, outside of the Americas! At its core, Mr Bongo is a legendary taste-maker!

The Mr Bongo team only takes a trip to the USA once a year for a pop-up event, so catching them spin in Los Angeles is a very rare privilege.

We expect to hit capacity quickly, please RSVP using the button below.

Complimentary beverages will be provided by Trumer Pilsner and Madre Mezcal.

Space is very limited and we anticipate this event to hit capacity quickly. Please RSVP to events@commonwave.net to secure your spot.
